Hagrid's Hut

This project was a love song to Harry Potter, something that's been a part of my life since I first learned English by picking up the books as child. Pick me for any HP Trivia teams!

Modeled in 3DS Max, painted in 3D Coat and Photoshop, Rendered in Marmoset.

I wanted to combine the visual shapes of the movie versions of his hut with a more magical, storybook appearance. I wanted it to reference iconic chapters in the book series and bring feelings of nostalgia and warmth that the movie hut doesn't quite invoke. I didn't deviate far from the silhouette of the movie hut since I felt it was too iconic to change and still remain recognizable. I hope this project gives some other HP fans out there some warm fuzzies!

My favorite is his pink flowery umbrella that hides fragments of his old broken wand (oak). I figured that Hagrid might have found a way to mend it that didn't look particularly secure, but he's used unicorn hair to bind bandages for creatures before, why not a broken wand?
